Gusztáv Jakab
Biologist and Nature Photographer
How do human welfare aspirations affect the world of plants? Perhaps no one could tell us more about this than Gusztáv Jakab, a biologist and associate professor at MATE’s Institute of Environmental Sciences. A scientist honored with numerous awards, he's been studying the interactions between climate and vegetation from two and a half million years ago to the present day. He is also an expert on irrigation and the use of remote sensing methods in agriculture. Additionally, he is an excellent nature photographer; in this capacity, he gained firsthand experience of the extremely alarming drought on the Great Hungarian Plain in 2022.
