Slomó Köves
Chief Rabbi, Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation
Having grown up in a multi-generational rabbinical family, Slomó left Hungarian high school to pursue religious studies at prestigious American, Israeli, and French universities. At only 24, he was appointed rabbi, and a year later, he established the Unified Hungarian Jewish Congregation, an organization combining traditional Jewish values with the dynamism and openness of the 21st century. Slomó's goal as the community’s leader is to present a positive Jewish identity to members, regardless of age or level of religious practice, while processing the tragedies of the past. He's authored several books, hosts a podcast titled "Follow the Rabbi," and actively participates in the life of his community's bilingual high school.
