NASA's engineer explains space suits
NASA is returning to the Moon with a new generation of explorers and is preparing to send the first human mission to Mars. Helping their endeavours is space suit engineer Christine Flaspohler, who was kind enough to take a break from her incredibly exciting Houston-based job of testing suits and hardware for Brain Bar's sake. At the festival, she explained how a space suit protects humans from temperatures, vacuum and radiation, how to make sure astronauts can pick up tools they drop while exploring, and what NASA is doing in deserts.
