Dr. Béla Árpád Janky is a Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Vice Dean for Science and Innovation at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. As a sociologist, his main research areas include the sociology of morality, rational choice theory, and the mechanisms of group belonging and political polarisation. In his theoretical models and experiments, he places particular focus on how collective identity and issue framing override individual, rational interests. A respected speaker both in the university lecture hall and at scientific forums, he sheds light on the deepest questions of social integration and group dynamics in a direct, thought-provoking style.
