Dr. Gergely Salát
Sinologist, Head of Department at PPKE
Dr. Gergely Salát is a respected Hungarian sinologist, China researcher, and habilitated associate professor. He is head of the Chinese Studies Department at Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPKE), a lecturer at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), and a senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (MKI). Since 2023, he has chaired the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Committee for Oriental Studies. His areas of expertise include Chinese legal and institutional history, contemporary Chinese domestic and foreign policy, and international relations among East Asian countries. He regularly appears in the Hungarian media as an expert analyst and is also active in science popularisation and literary translation.
