Ivett Szalma

Research Professor

Ivett Szalma is a research professor at the ELTE Centre for Social Sciences in Hungary and a habilitated associate professor at Corvinus University of Budapest. Her research focuses on childbearing, childlessness - including voluntary childlessness - and family policy, with particular attention to reproductive decision-making in Central and Eastern Europe. She also examines immigration-related attitudes and the measurement of homophobia. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters published in leading international journals. She has also served as guest editor of several thematic issues focusing on Central and Eastern Europe. In 2021, she was awarded the Momentum Grant of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Her research within this project addresses key contemporary issues, including access to fertility treatments, contraceptive practices, and attitudes toward adoption by same-sex couples, as well as single motherhood by choice and pet parenting.
