József Gacsályi
Deputy Director of the National Water Directorate
Will Hungary become a drying land? József Gacsályi is a civil engineer and water management expert, currently serving as Deputy Technical Director of Hungary’s National Water Directorate. He started his career on the Upper Tisza, later became managing director of VIZITERV Environ Ltd., and today he is responsible for nationwide water retention and replenishment projects. His core belief is that the future is not about draining water but about keeping it in the landscape and using it wisely — otherwise the Great Hungarian Plain risks turning into a semi-desert.
