Péter Balogh
Farmer, President of the Vízválasztó Movement
Péter Balogh is a geographer and floodplain farmer who practices what he preaches: on his model farm in Nagykörű, he puts sustainable floodplain farming and extensive grazing into everyday practice. As one of Hungary's leading experts on water-retentive landscape management and founding leader of the Vízválasztó Mozgalom (Watershed Movement), he is pushing for a radical shift in mindset — advocating for landscape-level water retention, rather than the rapid drainage of water, to halt desertification. Through regular talks and by building grassroots cooperation, his message is clear: inland and river floods aren't a threat, but one of our most important resources in the fight against climate change.
