Péter Dergez
Shoemaker
Péter was training to be a computer science teacher, but on a fateful day of a challenging exam, he left university and decided to follow his family legacy - the next day, he became a shoemaker. Thirteen years ago, he opened his own workshop, which is now known and loved throughout Pécs. His philosophy lies in the mental effort behind manual work; he believes that footwear begins with custom-made shoes and sees the future in repairing rather than accumulating the latest fashion pieces. Listen to Péter in our debate about the necessity of sneaker culture - by now, you can probably already guess which side he's on.
